106. Everybody’s Brewing – Hoedown Brown Draft

After enjoying my Full Sail Session Black on the banks of the Columbia River Gorge and watching the sun set, I decided to head inside to the hotel bar to see if I could get yet another Oregon brew that I couldn’t get at home.  I had heard that Everybody’s Brewing (that’s the name of the brewery) was right across the toll bridge, but figured it was easier (and less risky after a few drinks) to have one here.

The Hoedown Brown was obviously brown in color, and appeared to be fairly clear in the dark bar.  It had a creamy head which fell quickly and not much of a head was maintained.  The aroma was both malty and nutty.

When I took a drink, it seemed to have a nutty malt flavor on the front, but the finish had a bit of coffee-like bitterness.  The aftertaste seemed to be a roastiness which lasted for a half minute or so after drinking.

If I had to pair this with a food, I think I’d put it with roasted chicken, as that might help to dull some of the coffee-like bitterness.  Overall, it was a decent beer, but I felt like the bitterness in the finish was a bit harsh and prevented it from being a very drinkable beer.
