This was one of the specials tonight at Legends, and several people were having them. So, I thought, despite the fact that this would be another pale brew from a big brewery, I’d add it to the list. The label was the same as the old school labels, proclaiming this is, “The beer that made Milwaukee famous.”
It was a bright yellow color and extremely clear in the glass. There was a decent, half-inch thick, bright white foamy head on it. The aroma is lightly malty with a bit of a bready/lagery smell.
As you’d expect, the body was very light and the mouthfeel was crisp. There was a little bit of a breadiness in the middle, finished with a slight bit of fruitiness and a very light hop bitterness.
This would probably pair well with almost any food, as it’s flavors are very light. At home, I would proably pair this with a heavier meal, like lasagna or other pasta, but it could go with almost anything. The light breadiness might also go well with lighter meats, like chicken or turkey.
It was pretty much what I expected, light, crisp, and very drinkable. There was a little more flavor in this than your average big brewery light beer, but it’s still pretty watery. I think people drink this more for the label than what’s inside.
