Friday nights are always great, especially when we decide to load the little ones up and go out to dinner. After one nice trip to Joe’s Stationhouse Pizza Pub, where I crossed New Belgium Fat Tire off the list, we decided to try it out again. They didn’t have too many good beers on tap, but it gave me the chance to add Bell’s Oberon to the list.
It had a thin creamy head when it arrived at the table, and it was very clear with a straw yellow color. I didn’t pick up much aroma at all. The only thing I could pick up was a bit of a lagery smell.
When I took a drink, it had a very light body, and was crisp, and refreshing to drink. There wasn’t much flavor to it, but I noticed a bit of a light lemon grass type flavor, and the aftertaste had a bit of a lagery sulfer and some slight breadiness.
It was a very drinkable beer that went very well with our white garlic pizza. Overall, it was a good, refreshing summer beer that went down easily. However, my feeling is, if I’m going to spend the money on a Bell’s brew, then I want some flavor in it. I don’t want a Bell’s version of a macrobrewery beer.

Hmmm Never had it on tap, but perhaps your wait staff delivered or ordered the wrong beer. Oberon is a really good beer.
