32. ABInBev – Budweiser
I was going to wait to have this one, but sometimes an opportunity presents itself. In this case, my traveling partner got me upgraded to first class on our flight. With first class, comes free drinks, but my choices were Bud, Bud Light, Corona, and Heineken (all canned). Having grown up in St. Louis, I went for the hometown beer (St. Louis, although, after the InBev buyout, it’s not really the hometown beer anymore)....
29. ABInBev – Budweiser Select
As you can see in the background, my brother-in-law finished his master’s degree and graduated this weekend. We had a family get together at his house, and the beer of choice for the day was Budweiser Select. I’ve been trying to avoid these “big brewery” beers, but it had to happen eventually I guess. As you can see, I drank it straight from the bottle, but I’ve had on draft, so I do know that it is...
25. Sapporo Brewing – Sapporo Premium Beer
We were in Chicago for lunch, and one of my travel mates recommended a nearby place called Yu Mandarin for Chinese food. So of course what goes better with Chinese food than a Japanese beer… I’m joking. Actually, I couldn’t really understand the waitress, but I recognized Sapporo, so that’s what I ordered. The beer poured a nice golden color and it had a nice soapy, foamy head on it. However, the head...
22. Grupa Zywiec – Zywiec Original
Since I was in Chicago, and there was a place across the street from the hotel that sold some local fare, I thought I’d stop and pick up a nightcap of something I couldn’t find in Central Illinois. Unfortunately, the selection wasn’t great, but the clientele must be Polish, because they had 4-5 different types of Polish beers. I just decided to pick one and went for Zywiec. The bottle doesn’t indicate what...
14. Molson Coors – Molson Canadian Lager
We stopped at the Fox Sports Sky Box in Chicago’s O’hare Airport for lunch. The selection of beers was pretty typical, but I tried to find one that might not be an obviously easy one to pick up along the way, so I ordered a Molson Canadian Lager. It wasn’t served with a glass, so I can’t comment exactly on the color or head, but, again, having had this before, I know it’s a pale yellow with a decent head....
10. AB-InBev – Ziegen Bock Draft
After having the Shiner Bock at lunch in the Houston Hobby Airport, we still had plenty of time to kill. The server mentioned the beers on draft, and the only one I didn’t recognize was Ziegen Bock. In all honesty, I had never even heard of it before, so I thought I’d give it a try. Only after I ordered it, was I able to check my iPhone to discover I had ordered an AB-InBev beer… but I guess it had to happen...
9. Spoetzl – Shiner Bock
You’ve heard the phrase, “When it Rome…” Well, this week I’m in Texas, and it seems that the beer of choice here is Shiner Bock, brewed by the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. They’ve been brewing this beer since 1913, almost as long as they’ve been in business. I wasn’t even until a few decades ago that Shiner began producing Bock year-round. Today 80% of the beer the Spoetzl...
